Enjoy a head end ride on board a train of tank cars on the Indiana Rail Road from Indianapolis to Switz City, Indiana. This is a two part set, and in this volume you’ll ride the train from Indianapolis to just south of the settlement of Fruitdale. Video and audio come from several cameras and microphones (no audio from inside the locomotive cab). You’ll enjoy the ride as we travel through urban Indianapolis, then flat farm country, and lastly as we start climbing through the hills of southern Indiana. This line has been called the “Hi-Dry” for the many bridges it crosses. The further out of Indianapolis we go, the more bridges we will see.

In this installment of the Indiana Railroad Cab Ride series, there are clips from the 2009 2-part series in the opening credits.

The date is April 9th, 2014 & the camera crew is onboard SD90-43MAC units 9007 & 9001 from Indianapolis to Switz City in the Hoosier State on Train Symbol SH-AW to Hiawatha Yard at Jasonville. The driver for 9007 is Patrick Fugate. Before leaving the capital city of Indiana itself, there is a short look at the yard.

Locations include Senate Ave while going under the CSX line in downtown Indianapolis near Union Station, West Street, Pleasant Run Creek Bridge, Troy Ave, Summer Ave with a Wye for the Indianapolis Power & Light Hardee St. Station, Hanna Ave, Lick Creek Bridge with Dixie Siding, while going Under Interstate 465, pass the spur for the siding with hoppers parked & the siding ends at Epler Ave, plus there is also Edgewood Ave, Bluff Road, Banta Road, Buck Creek Bridge, Southport Road, the site for Mt. Perry Siding at Milepost 7.4, Stop 11 Road, County Line Road while leaving Indianapolis, Peterman Road, Over the bridge at both Pleasant Creek & Fairview Road, Fairview Fair Brook Bridge, Smith Valley Road at Center grove which was once Francis, Turkey Pen Creek Bridge with Olive Branch Road, Auburn Branch Bridge, Stones Road, Honey Creek Bridge, Smokey Row Road, Whiteland Road, State Route 144 at Bargersville with grain elevators, State Route 44, the site of Anita at MP 25, Sycamore Street at Morgantown with Indian Creek Bridge, Bear Creek Bridge, under Hornetown Road bridge, Fruitdale road, & ends part 1 south of Fruitdale at MP 36 while the train grounds to a halt.

Along the way, there are lots of wooden ties alongside the mainline, as well as a meet with a freight that has a bay window caboose with the operation lifesaver logo on both sides.

very interesting video. Lots of different camera action shows great views of what the crew sees. The video producers do a fine job with an overhead map to explain where they are going at the video beginning. Narration is informative . Well done.
