| Track Chart/Condensed Profile for the Macon Division of the Central of Georgia - updated to 1960. Track segments in this 148 page track chart include: Albany District (Macon to Albany), Atlanta District (Macon to Atlanta), Columbus District (Fort Valley to Columbus), Dothan District (Albany to Dothan), Fort Gaines District (Cuthbert to Fort Gaines), Montgomery District (Smithville to Montgomery), Ozark District (Eufuala to Ozark), Perry District (Fort Valley to Perry) and the Thomaston District (Barnesville to Thomaston). Included in the track chart is the legend and a nice index of towns in the Macon Division. The cover is scanned above while a typical track chart page is scanned below.
This is a photocopy of an original 1939, updated to 1960, Central Of Georgia Railway track chart. It is blown up by 20% for better readability. The original is blue line on white and so a few pages are somewhat light, typical for a blue line. Those pages have been darkened and sharpened in this copy.
A track chart shows every mile of track, including curvature, signals, tunnels, grade, speed, rail type and maintenance. This is a VERY detailed track chart. Every switch, yard, many public roads and all RR interchanges. Remember computer pictures are made small and fuzzy for the quickest loading possible. Your copy is clear.
The Central of Georgia had three divisions - all are available at RailfanDepot. After a brief ownership, but no merger, with the Frisco, the Central of Georgia became a subsidiary of the Southern Railway in 1963 - and eventually part of the giant Norfolk Southern system. Many of the lines in this track chart have been abandoned. Short line operators have taken on some of the lines and Norfolk Southern still operates the Macon to Atlanta and Macon to Columbus lines.
This is a great track chart for fans of the Central of Georgia (The Right Way!). Railfans, modelers and builders/designers of train sims for Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) and Trainz enjoy these track charts. | |
