These map books were issued just after the 1970 merger to familiarize railroad personnel with the facilities of the various merging railroads: Great Northern Railway, the Northern Pacific Railway, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, and the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway.
The book is broken into regions: Chicago, Omaha, Twin Cities, Billings, Portland and Seattle. There are 165 maps. It appears that every yard is covered - in great detail. The larger yards and facilities have more than one page. As this book was made up of maps from formally independent railroads, they are presented in a couple of different formats. | This is a photocopy of an original Burlington Northern Railroad Yard Map Book. Pages are 8.5x11 inches, three-hole punched, in a report cover. 166 pages.
A typical map page is scanned above, two more pages are scanned below. Many are using these with Trainz or Microsoft Train Simulator.
RailfanDepot carries a collection of railroad paper both new and collectible. | |
