Data and details on every NYC and PRR car in the PC fleet | This is an absolute wealth of information on Penn Central passenger cars. Since this was issued in 1968, this breakdown shows New York Central and Pennsylvania Railroad passenger cars as they were at the end of their service for those storied roads.
There are 160 pages, most of them are pages of diagrams, other pages include information on former PRR and NYC cars, a renumbering list and truck and generator classification. Each diagram includes a lot of information about each car. Although the information varies by car - most include build dates, builder, equipment, car numbers matching the diagram. Some diagrams include named cars and cars assigned to particular name trains. The original was produced in a hurry by a railroad in financial difficulty - many were reproduced from blueprints or copies and a few diagrams are light and difficult to read. Most are legible and clear. A few pages have information cut off at the top, bottom or sides.
About two-thirds the pages feature two diagrams to a page (see below), while others feature one diagram on a page. | This is a photocopy of an original Penn Central Passenger Car Directory / Diagram book. 160 pages. Pages are 8.5 by 11 inches. Hole-punched, in a report cover, with a label.
